Hi, I'm Toshizou.
I'm a video creator based in Nagoya, Japan.
I started this blog as a place to share Japan with the world — honestly, and in my own words.
I think Japan is a beautiful country. It has a rich history, a unique culture, and some of the most interesting manga and anime in the world. Japanese people have wonderful sides, and not-so-wonderful sides, too.
Things that feel completely ordinary to Japanese can seem strange or fascinating from the outside. That's the kind of Japan I want to share on this blog.
How I started with English
I didn't seriously study English until my late twenties.
One day, I found myself with a lot of free time, and out of pure boredom, I picked up the original Harry Potter novels and started reading. That was the beginning.
If you ask me what my favorite book is, I'll say Harry Potter is my favorite without hesitation. For me, it's my English teacher, and the book I love most in my life.
From there, I kept reading — and somewhere along the way, my English got pretty decent. (Though speaking is still not good, to be honest.)
What reading taught me
What I've learned from books is this: studying a language isn't just about memorizing words. It's about learning the history, the culture, the religion, the music, the people — everything behind it.
And learning about another country is one of the greatest joys I've ever known.
So that's why I decided to start this blog. For anyone who wants to know Japan a little deeper, I'd like to share the country through my own eyes.
If reading my blog helps you know Japan a little better than you did yesterday — and through that, makes your life even a little bit happier — nothing would make me happier than that.
